ENJOY TIDAWT, AND WELCOME TO BE PART OF THE PROCESS, FOR THE SOLIDARY MUSIC WORKSHOP, VERY FIRST OF IT’S KIND IN ALL OF AFRICAN SAHEL.
By taking part in our Solidary Music Workshop every day after school, children will learn to play music, to live together in respect and harmony, and share their culture. Tidawt – together in Tamasheq, Tuareg language – is the name of our association promoting practice of music and various other activities for children of Niamey, capital city of Niger.
The association was created in 2013, from an idea of Kildjate MOUSSA ALBADE, Tuareg Blues and Rock musician. It’s a project he had in his mind for a long time, which adresses to the youth of Bobiel neighborhood, whose inhabitants live in precarious conditions.
Together with a motivated and dynamic staff of volunteers, musicians and karate teacher such as Malik, Kildjate means to make music and other disciplines like sports and martial arts available to children from poor families. He believes that music is a manifestation of a people’s culture, and that culture is the best education that he can transmit to the next generations.
The purpose of Tidawt association is to make this solidarity workshop happen !
There is no such concept of this kind in Niamey city, nor in the entire country, while Niger is still the Homeland of Nomad Blues music. Education is vital for every child, and Tidawt provides them with a space where they can learn music and musical techniques after school.
Our 1901 Law association is based in Chalon-sur-Saône, Burgundy, France, while the workshop takes place in Bobiel, Niamey, Niger.
For the workshop to happen, we are renting a house in Bobiel, for a 160€ per month fee. The house has three rooms, one bathroom, and a beautiful garden.
The staff consists only in volunteers for now, but we hope to provide them with a salary one day.
We need your help to continue on this adventure ! For kids and for volunteers who take care of Tidawt association.
More precisely, we need money for the housekeeping : monthly paid rent, water and electricity ; musical instruments such as drums, guitars and amplifiers ; internet access, a computer, electric extension, and house equipment to create a recording studio.
